Lightning
It stands for divine intervention from above, or a sudden revelation of the truth. Striking the top of the tower, it shatters false understanding and rigid patterns of thought in an instant.
Falling golden crown
The crown stands for worldly power, achievement and the ego. Its fall marks the end of arrogance, and how powerless glory built on material footing is before a divine force.

Grey tower
It stands for a material fortress built out of defensiveness or pride, and for calcified belief. The grey stone marks the weight and coldness of matter, and its footing on a sheer peak makes it deeply unstable.
Falling figures
A man and a woman fall from the height, standing for how equal everyone is before sudden disaster. They once owned this tower; now they are forced out of comfort to face bare reality.

Twenty-two flames (Yods)
These sparks shaped like the Hebrew letter Yod stand for divine grace. Their count of 22 matches the Major Arcana, hinting that even inside the pain of destruction lie cosmic mercy and the seed of rebirth.

Black background
It stands for ignorance, fear and the total darkness of a disaster arriving. It underlines how sudden and destructive the event is — and hints that starlight always follows the dark.

Yellow (the energy colour)
Both the lightning and the sparks are yellow, standing for sacred wisdom and active force. This yellow destroys: it burns away the stale to clear room for new life.

Element of fire
The Tower answers to Mars and to fire. It shows fire's most extreme purifying quality: burning the rot away completely. The process is violent, but it is the only road to rebirth.
